We are please to announce the exhibition Hand Dyed Indigo Shibori by Teresa Misagal from July 15th to September 29th 2019. *Shibori Workshop will held on 15th September.
Teresa Misagal is an Indigo artist based in Brooklyn and Japan. She holds a B.F.A. in photography from Tisch NYU. She has worked with some of the top fashion houses over the years, including Anna Sui, Ralph Lauren, Versace and Calvin Klein as a producer managing their runway collections. She has discovered her passion in Japanese traditional Indigo Dying. She spends months at a time in rural Japan learning and teaching the techniques of Aizome and Shibori. While in Japan, she continues to expand her indigo world by connecting with other indigo dyers, farmers, artisans and designers. Connection is what she feels most grateful and is often what inspires her work. When in Brooklyn, she is creating one-of-a-kind lines for home and fashion. She has collaborated with Anna Sui, Vans and Burton. Her shibori was introduced at Anna Sui Men’s collection 2018 in fashion week runway.
*Shibori (しぼり / 絞り) is a Japanese manual resist dying technique, which produces patterns on fabric.
